Miracle Workers: products that do what they promise

There are thousands and thousands of products on the market. Say what? Millions and millions of products is more like it. There are thousands of sorts of make-upremovers, thousands of sorts of shampoo… But which products actually work? Which products make their promises come true? I will show you some products that definitely rock! Most of the products are bought in the Netherlands, and I don’t know if they are available in the rest of the world, but search on ebay and thy will find! More products will follow, but here’s my first thread of "Miracle Workers".

First, let me start of by giving a little information of myself, that might be relevant;
Natural hair color: brown (normal hair, not dry or thin/thick. Just normal)
Skintype (face): normal skin (with some dry areas), but overall very sensitive skin
Skintype (body): normal skin

JOHN FRIEDA: BRILLIANT BRUNETTE

Johnfrieda

First in my line of "Miracle Workers" is the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette range. The whole range of products are great; from the shampoo to the hairspray, but my favorites are definitely the shampoo and conditioner (they really work! Your hair looks more vibrant and "alive"). The smell is awesome too. Another favorite is the "Glaze". It promises to boost my shine and color gloss my hair. And it does! They Glaze has to be massaged into the hair after you used shampoo and conditioner. Leave it in for about 3 minutes and after a few days already, you’ll see result. I absolutely love the Glaze!

As for the styling-products like hairspray and styling creme: I love them, they’re good products, but I’ve seen products worked better for me though. I mostly like them because of their smell.

I don’t know about the "Sheer Blonde" range from JF, because I’m definitely not blonde. Maybe you are, and you’ve tried Sheer Blonde? Leave it in a commend for my blonde readers!

Dove Go Fresh Showergel in waterlilly and fresh mint (the blue one)

Dove

This might seem a little weird; being a total fan of some ‘standard’ body wash. Well, I can tell you; this body wash isn’t standard at all. It makes my skin feel so soft and smooth! I just feel that it hydrates my skin immediately. It stays soft all day long and it smells great! The other 2 products in the go fresh range are ok, but this one is amazing! I recently purchased a body wash which was my all time favorite before I met Go Fresh, but I don’t like it anymore. It’s such a difference with go fresh, I just can’t stop talking about it!

Biodermal P-CL-E cream

Pcle

Last but certainly not least is the P-CL-E cream from Biodermal. As my skin is very sensitive and has some dry area’s, I decided to try a million of creams, moisturizers, et cetera. All of them worked ok, but I certainly think this one is a miracle worker. After just one week my skin got a lot better (little red spots were reduced, dry areas aren’t that dry anymore) and it feels just so soft! The cream is very thick and therefore a little greasy, but it does moisturize a lot and the greasyness fades within a few minutes, leaving my skin super smooth and soft.

I use it like I would use a serum; before my moisturizer, in the morning AND in the night. When I use this in the morning, my foundation can be easily applied because it makes my skin so smooth.

I may sound like I’m advertising right now but I am just so overwelmed by this products! I think everyone should try them! They’re all not cheap (JF starts at 9,99 euro, Dove body wash is 5,99 euro and the P-CL-E cream is about 35 euro’s), but definitely worth the price.

Review: Go Cosmetics baked bronzer

When I saw a youtube video from a vlogger named ‘Sirvinya’ about the product of Go Cosmetics, I just had to take a look on their website. She showed some dupes of MAC’s Mineralized Eye Shadows (MES) and the baked bronzer in color 02, which is a very good dupe of MAC’s Mineralized Skin Finish (MFS). It’s a pinkish, baked, blush/bronzer (which you can see in the picture below). I was very attracted by the looks of this MSF dupe, so I went to the seller’s site www.ionacosmetics.com and ordered mine right away. I ordered on friday Aug. 1st, and the package arrived yesterday, Aug. 12th (from England to Holland, I think that’s a reasonable period of time).

Anyways, here comes the review!

Update138

How does it look?
It looks like a MAC MSF. It’s a blush-sized box, with a baked blush/bronzer in it. The box it self is black, with see-through plastic in the middle with black letters on it, which say "Go Cosmetics" (which looks a bit cheap-ass, it would have been better if the box was just black and see-trough, just like MAC).

What does it cost?
It costs 5,99 English pounds. Shipping was 2 pounds. Which is 7,99 togheter (10,22 euro, 15,19 USD)

Overall rating: 3/5

What has Go Cosmetics promised me?
This comes in a large compact and you can put as much or as little on your skin to create a sun-kissed delicately sparkling glow.

…And?
When I opened the package, I immediately saw the shimmer this product has. I swatched it on the back of my hand and it looked beautifull: not too glittery but a nice amount of shimmer, not too much color payoff but enough to get this "sparkling glow" and a nice and soft finish.

Yesterday evening I had put it on as a bronzer, which was very beautiful. I indeed glow like crazy! But at the same time, it was not too much or too shimmery. Tomorrow, I had put it on as a blush. The color though was a bit too soft. So I applied another blush on top of it, which gave a nice result.

The pro’s are: nice shimmer, nice color for bronzing or creating that glowy look, nice finish and the amount of product is a lot more then what you get at mac! The price-quality comparison is very good.

The cons are: it’s not enough color payoff to use as a blusher, there are only 2 colors available (as for MAC: they have like million of them) and they don’t last all day. I needed a touch-up.

My overall rating is 3/5, because the Go Cosmetics peeps could have done better by offering more (and some more intense) colors. And because it doesn’t last super long. But overall a very good MSF dupe, and as I said earlier: for this price you’ll get a very good quality and a very large amount of products!

Haul 12/08/2008

Hi y’all!

So, I’ve recently purchased some things… Becides the stuff on the picture I also purchased a nail laquer and a serum for sensitive skin. But as I said before, that’s not in the pictures.

The two Gosh items (everlasting lips & volume booster mascara) where 2 items for 5 euro.. The baked bronzer was 7,99 pounds, including shippingcosts, which is about 10,20 euro. This one is a b-e-a-uuuutiful MSF dupe by the way!! The mac pigment samples are 1,59 dollar each, (buy the samples on www.thebodyneeds.com) so I’ve paid just 24,85 dollars (which is about 16,30 euro) including shipping to the netherlands for 10 beautiful pigment samples!! And OMG how I LOVE royal flush and chartreuse pigment!!

Review: Pupa Natural Silk Foundation

Hi lovely’s,

It has been over 2 weeks since my last blog. I’m so sorry! I just need to get the whole blogging thing in my system.

Today, a review of Pupa Natural Silk foundation. I wanted to get a fluid foundation, because my mineral foundation powder was starting to annoy me. I am a bit more tinted now then when I bought the EDM mineral foundation, so the color isn’t exactly right anymore. Also, the EDM wasn’t longlasting and covering enough for my skin type. I do have another problem with powders: my skin is so sensitive, that most facial brushes (mostly goat hair) are too harsh for my skin; it gets irritated! I decided it was time for a fluid foundation.

Mac-addict as I am, I wanted a Mac fluid foundation. But when I was getting lunch, my eye crossed a sign "pupa make-up sold here". So I went inside to have a look; they might have just the right color for me. I got lucky… They had!

How does it look?
The bottle comes in a red, simple but stylish, packaging. When you open the packaging, you’ll find a bottle with a "press" button. When you press it, just the right amount of foundation comes out of the hole on the top. Here’s a picture:
T_natural20silk_000

What does it cost?
It costs 24,75 euro (which is about 39 dollars). In Holland, it can be bought at some beauty salons, some online shops and in (very few) big drugstores. It’s a bit of an exclusive brand.

What has Pupa promised me?
ULTRA-SMOOTHING, TENSOR EFFECT FLUID FOUNDATION.
Compact, elastic skin; face contours more clearly defined.
Natural Silk smoothes away signs of fatigue and small wrinkles.

Spreads uniformly and homogeneously, giving face a smooth, velvety, natural and absolutely glowing look. Long-lasting.

Contains Macroprotein, a plant protein that forms a film to relax the features and hydrate the driest areas, and reflecting micro-pearls to emphasise the face’s velvety smooth look.

..And?
Well.. The foundation is hypo allergenic, which is something all products I use MUST be, otherwise my skin won’t react well to it. Also, it’s a foundation for dry or normal skin, and I have dry skin, so that worked for me too.

When I had just bought the foundation, I applied it on a face with nothing on it, not even moisturizer. But it spread very smooth, the result was amazing! The color was perfect, my skin felt soooo soft! And most of all: it was a HUGE difference with the EDM foundation.

It also has an SPF in it (SPF 15), and that’s fact I also like. As there’s no SPF in my moisturizer and my skin can’t stand most facial sun protection products, it’s a good thing there’s an SPF in this foundation.

The foundation indeed smoothes away signs of fatigue and small wrinkles. The foundation indeed gives a velvety, glowing look. My skin loves it; it’s so soft! My pores are hidden as I wear this foundation and the coverage is good; even and longlasting.

Because my skin is dry, I really immediately see the difference when I apply this foundation. I indeed get a glowing, healthy look, which I don’t have without foundation or with EDM.

The only thing that might bother some people is that there are only 6 colors available of this foundation. I was lucky I found a color matching exactly (mine is color 02), but some people might not find the right color for them out of only 6 colors.

To make a long story short: the Natural Silk foundation is ideal for me! I can suggest it to anyone with a dry or sensitive skin. It’s also more practical then mineral foundation with all the powder going on the floor, walls, etc. The product gets a 5/5 from me!

Maclov haul (july 9th 2008)

My package from Maclov arrived today.. I’m so happy!

+ Amazon Quad
+ Dazzle glass in Date Night
+ Plush glass in Pretty Plush

And I got Lipglass in Encite as a gift, she’s such a sweet girl!

Pictures and swatches:

I really like the dazzle glass and the plushglass! The lipglass in Encite is a bit too brown, but if I wear it in a thin layer, it fits beautifull with warm eye make-up.
I quickly swatched the amazon quad, but the color payoff wasn’t superb, so I’ll make an eotd with it shortly. It are beautiful, natural colors though. The pinkish color is a very naked color, and even if used all 4, perfectly for the natural or even nude look!

A few EOTD’s I did before…

So, I’ve just recently purchased a camera for my vacation and just started to make FOTD’s. Some of the fotd’s are quite well taken, but others are a bit blurry. I just have to find out which settings I should use for the best make-up shots!

All of them are made in the last month. When I make new EOTD’s I will post them on this forum offcourse! Face shots.. well… I always get in a shock when I see myself in a picture, so to do that, I need a little more courage!

Here they come, hope you like it and "constructive criticism" (wow, that’s a beautifull word!!!) is welcome!

EOTD 1:
All mac e/s. All coulours applied with 1 brush (Nars large dome (blending) brush). Sorry for the blurry picture, these were the first I took with my new cam.

- Georgeous Gold (inner corner)
- Swimming (lid)
- Humid (outer v, crease)
- Shroom (as a highlight)

- BEYU spotlight mascara

EOTD 2:

Pictures getting better… Although, coulours looked much brighter in reallife All mac unless otherwise mentioned.

- Paintpot Painterly (above crease)
- Paintpot Delft ( lid, crease)

- e/s Submarine (lid, over delft)
- e/s Meet the fleet (outer v)
- e/s Forgery (crease, highlighter, inner corner)
- e/s Violet (under eye)

- BEYU spotlight mascara

EOTD 3, 4 & 5 taken in Sicily (Italy) on my vacation!:
In reallife it was much darker! Very, very dark! But on the picture it looks different again… pff….

Tanarama facechart… I’m a copycat!

And the last one.. a very simple look, using one brush, but actually I made the picture to show off my new mascara.. I like it! Description is in dutch, translation is underneath it.. But I think you’ll understand my description because the words used are all "make-up-slang"

Simple: e/s forgery as a highlighter and in the crease and e/s typographic on the lid. As a base: painterly paintpot. Mascara: dior diorshow!!!

Tijdverdrijf…
